Lyrics
At the edge of the world, looking out
Towards the light that has brought this day about
It’s been a long time coming
But truth has returned a final time
To a fisherman’s field, looking down
Upon an intergalactic murdered town
Here fell a vintage projectile,
Plunging on down from the sky
While we gazed and we wondered at the mythical gods of thunder,
Never with a healthy skeptical eye
We were just modern day reptiles
Floating on imaginary planes
With the lines and the boxes never framed
So that the truest of treasures can’t be gained
We just sat back on our porches
Til’ we got the news that Pappy bought a farm…
A huckleberry farm,
He just strolled over there, un-scared and he dared
That love is stronger and life is longer when it is true
That unmistakable golden rule
So he locked up the deal
For all the tillers and wheels and Tuesday’s gone…
To the edge of the evening where he strains
For any available light that still remains
It’s been a long time coming
For a return to candor and fidelity,
A stable replacement for variety,
An honest displacement for indifference
It doesn’t matter where you go
It’s now on with the show up on the farm…
The huckleberry farm
Where love is strong and life is long when it’s real
As long as we can honor the deal
Look to the sky and dispose of the lie, is that enough?
Oh, when the water is getting rough
With restlessness and an anxious zest
It’s all tried and it’s true, an unmistakable rule
But the world is full of fools, so getaway
Ascend on to a gleaming and new,
Real and true prize that is due, just go!
