Pieces of the Past

The compilation Pieces of the Past will feature 14 songs recorded of a 20-year period (2005-2025). This unique collection draws it’s content from three types of source material – four previously unreleased tracks, three fresh takes on previously recorded Sinclair Soul songs (with updated titles) and seven re-recorded tracks of songs which originally appeared on Ric Albano solo albums.

The record acts as a final bookmark to the Sinclair Soul collection as best demonstrated by the previously unreleased track “Welcome Home”, which is both it’s oldest composition (written in 1998) and oldest studio recording ever by this group, as it was recorded at the very first session we had at Saturation Acres studio on April 7, 2005 (exactly 21 years to the day before this album’s official release). The other previously unreleased tracks are “Speak No Evil” which dates back to a demo recording in 2004, the rhythmic “Immortoportal”, and the 2016 dark ballad “Cross”.

Also included are updated versions of three songs which originally appeared on the first two Sinclair Soul records. “Good Friday (original 2005 version)” is an alternative mix to the version which appears on the 2017 album The Journey, while two songs from 2018’s Reflections of Relevance were extended and given fresh titles – “22 Words and 33 Flames” and “Recurring Anthem”.

Rounding out this collection are seven new group recordings of Ric Albano solo tracks. On the original solo versions Ric provided all instrumentation, while on these neve versions drummer Ron Simasek and guitarist Bret Alexander appear. Here we have three songs which first appeared on 2020’s Out There Somewhere – “Oceans”, “Big Orange Cat” and “Donovan’s Dread”, and four new versions of songs from 2022’s Another Rock to Roll – “Love Song”, “Cassandra”, “Freedom Song” and “That Moment”.

Pieces of the Past will be released internationally on April 7, 2026. It is the third in a trilogy of compilation collections following 2024’s Imaginary Cube and 2025’s Saturday Morning Car Tunes. This will be the final overall record in the Sinclair Soul collection.
