Tangy Town

Composed by Ric Albano
between April 2006 and March 2013

And so I walked away from it all
The comfortable stale career
The chain the ball
I made my rash decision to break
With near tunnel vision
I’d chosen which path I would take

A pilgrimage to Tangy Town
Where orphans come to claim their crowns
Without a sound
I just walked away from it all

Johnny trashed his dad’s car with a bat
While donning his traditional,
6th-grade little league hat
He made a firm decision to blow
By icing all of the options of where he can go

He’ll seek asylum in Tangy Town,
Where the un-forgiven are issued their caps and gowns
To the joyous sounds
Of Johnny trashing his dad’s car again

I still remember the way you walk
And I remember every breath in your voice whenever you talked
It was December and the cold winter day, it seemed so bright
But it was only a reflection off the snow in an endless dark night
We came around, came around to the subject that hung in the sky
And you sang your sad song and you looked me square in the eye
But that pathetic, self-imposed martyrdom could not sustain
And it all fell apart on the morning which followed the rain…
